...but I'm pretty stoked with how this turned out. This sofa table features a beautiful quilted maple top and genuine mahogany legs and skirt from Hearne hardwoods. The bottom shelf is a piece of salvaged mahogany from a remodel in OC with Royal Paulownia supports...It is finished with seven coats of danish oil which gives it a great satiny finish. It is for sale if your interested drop a line...Becca is stoked on it so i'm making her one but more on that later...

The belly slider
I've been tinkering with this board for close to 8 months...It is made from Royal paulownia features 5 mahogany stringers and salvaged Koa fins. It has concave top and bottom...the shape is a combination of larry goddard and bill simmons influences. It was such a blast to make...I did not want to botch the glass job so had Ryan at Surfer's Supplies in Ocean City,NJ take care of it...figure its a great way to use some gift certificates. The glassing schedule was 4 ounce top and bottom and then super gloss coat. The bottom pictures are preglass to show the contrast but to get the full effect it has to be seen in person.
So yeah...I've neglected the blog
But I'd like to think I've een pretty busy...We've come up with a new hand plane strap system that enaples tooless strap adjustment with velcro and then added a nice cushiony piece of Repurposed neoprene. I've also experimented with some new shapes and some crazy glue ups. The geometric cedar, paulownia and poplar hand plane is one of my all time favorites....oh yeah theres a couple more things i've been working on but more on that later...I promise

A Myriad of cutting boards
After the art of surfing festival, I pPromised myself I would take a break from shaping handplanes till october, so I could concentrate on other stuff like cutting boards and finishing a jewelry box for Becca. But I think its worked out because I was able to to try some new ideas.
So this is for the hostess with the mostest the cutting board features a 3.75" whole for a dip/sauce bowl. And then we made bangle with a 2.75"iinterior diameter. 59 for the board and 20 for the bangle.
Now these I'm really excited about.
Now the large hole is for dips/sauces and measures 4" both are over 1"thick
these quick cops are perfect for carrots apples, onions you get the idea
Let me know if you are interested in any and if they aren't priced we can get you one r come out next week and check them out at the woodstown fall festival. So I'm stoked to shape handplanes and jind of chomping the bit to get at it but I'm gonna try to keep cool but doesn't mean I can't glue up a huge pile of blanks and tail blocks

Out with old in with the New Kicks
Before Getting shot around by katia yesterday decided to pick up a new set of kicks from surfer supplies. Not that type...I replaced my old wave grippers with a pair of Churchill Slashers from Surfer Supplies. I could defintiely notice the increased drive. But it was great session, about 2 ft overhead at waverly hadn't fully cleaned up but was definitely getting better through the session. The inly thing was the cramps in the legs from breaking in new the new fins.
