Cool Birthday Board bags from my honey and ride report
It has something like 30+ hand cut squares. If you ask really really nice she might make you one
Becca hooked me up with an awesome longboard and handplane bags. Here is a shot of the latter. And the flying pig is another story. It gave me some great rides. I just love being able to swing and roll the front around from the tail . Its just something about surfing a pig. And I have to say it surfed even better than I could have hoped. I'm stoked to say I shaped this board. Oh yeah it also gave me a text book shiner

New Handplanes finished up
Finished these three earlier this week. The two big fish models are made of Royal Paulownia and have a concave for lift. The shorebreak fish is atlantic white cedar with an off set eastern red cedar stringer and mild rocker and flat bottom for surfing larger surf or shorebreak where you don't need a lot of planing surface. All three have brass blind nuts epoxied in for a strong adjustable strap system. These wiil be making there way onto etsy over the next couple of weeks. Or just give a hollar.

2 New Pine Alaias
I finished these 2 over the weekend. The one that looks patchwork came from a blank that used finger joints to but the ends together. Becca and I love how the patched one looks. The other has a super deep concave on the back third. Both are finished with boiled linseed oil These are available if you're interested and can be seen at the Gloucester County Fair Grouds for a Craft show this weekend.

The birthday board is finished
So first let me start by saying I shaped and laminated this board over the fall last year and spent the winter sanding down the glass job...have I mentioned I really don't like glassing and generally go overkill with my fill coat so I spend the winter sanding it down or search for motivation to sand it down...But I digress This is fiber glass board number 3 for me...Its 9'7x23 x 3.25, wide spot a foot back of center, and concave about the front 3rd. If you've seen the hand drawn decal you'd probably guessed I'm calling this one the flying pig. The blank is a 9'9 Just Foam (Polyurethane), Fin home and tail block are home made as well mahogany, paulownia and black walnut. Sanded it to 320. Double 8 oz on the deck with patch and single 8oz on the bottom. It will get its celebratory session on Friday. I'd have to say for this being board number 3 I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, whiteys, burn throughs and dings and all.

Freshly Shaped Alaia Belly Slider for sale
I rough shaped this board by hand tools during the recent Salem County: Arts in Bloom Event and finished it up over the weekend. To be honest I enlisted the help of some power tools for final sanding and blending. I glued the blank from book-matched Paulownia with water resistant glue. It features a gentle concave on the back third of the bottom for control. It has a rubbed boiled linseed oil finish. The polka dots are hand burned into the wood. Dimensions are 5'2 x 15 1/4"x 3/4" .
The shape will be great in shore break or lined up surf. It could also be ridden standing up for the more petite alaia enthusiast.

Thanks Surfer Supplies
So I went down to Surfer Supplies in OC NJ to drop off a new handplane for the selection there and totally missed "it" when I went in the shop.
Then Dan asked if I noticed the window and I said no and went out and to my suprise the guys placed a 6'o pine alaia with wood burned polka dots in the window. I finally got down there this week witha camera to snap some shots....and a couple of the handplane of course. Thanks ATF, Greg and Danimal. Be sure to check them out on them web http://www.surferssupplies.com/ or on Asbury in OC for your surfing needs or intriguing frozen Costa Rican confections.
