Recap of the Art of Surfing Festival

So this year was by far the funnest busiest and craziest.Folks were digging and picking up some cutting boards jewelry, surfboard fin portraits, hand planes and alaias. The Glenn taylor band and coastal rise rocked out day 1.   The white walls rocked the some classic classic rock with mama joy in her poodle skirt on day 2 as well as Pat Croce doing a book signing for his Black beard and how to be a pirate books.   Really cool guy.  Satueday brought the perenial favorites Shark skins ot the stage.   Amongst the artist there were Jamie Kelly, Bogy, tula love bottoms, and many others.

Finished up a bunch of handplanes...

Over the weekend  including the new models.   They'll be at the Art of Surfing Festival this weekend at the Music Pier in OCNJ.   They all feature water based finish that sets up water tight and also have blind nuts epoxied into the board for a strong adjustable hand strap set up.

New handplane models...

So did some creative alchemy with our templates and came up with two new designs...

The first is a our mini-fish shore break hand plane stretched and chunked out a bit   the boards are reclaimed mahogany, paulownia with black walnut and western red cedar, and stained and painted paulownia, .Has some decent entry rocker and some healthy concave for lift

Ladies and gentleman boys and girls may I introduce to you    El Whopper and for those lost in the bilingual portion it translates to the whopper.  It was a combination of our big fish and the hand grip models.   El Whopper features a tapered hand hold, a good amount of rocker for transitioning down the wave  a single concave starting in front of the hole to help hide the hand that ends with a double concave out the tail.  It is made of atlantic white cedar, royal paulownia, and black walnut.   It is finished with boiled linseed oil...Oh yeah dimensions are tad over 19" by 9+"x 7/8"
